North Carolina Reception Signage
Signage for the 2025 induction reception, where each station introduced out-of-state guests to a different North Carolina staple: Cheerwine, Krispy Kreme, shrimp and grits, pimento cheese, sweet potatoes, eastern and Lexington-style barbecue, fried livermush, and Mt. Olive pickles.
The first concept was built around a rustic autumn theme, with chalkboard-style signs meant to feel like a farmers' market spread. Partway through, the reception's overall aesthetic direction pivoted to elegant coastal neutral, which meant the chalkboard direction no longer fit the room. The signage was rebuilt around a more refined vintage treatment: minimal compositions, elegant typography, and a lighter color palette that could match the new aesthetic while still conveying regional character. Each sign carried a short note about the food and its NC origin, giving guests quick context for each station.
Final Concepts
The final set of nine station signs. Each carried a short note about the food and its NC origin.
Original Direction
The original concept was a rustic autumn theme with chalkboard-style signage. When the reception's overall direction shifted, the designs were revised to fit the new aesthetic.
